product information

Ferrous ammonium sulfate, also known as Mohr's salt, molar salt. It is a hydrated compound salt of ferrous sulfate and ammonium sulfate, with the chemical formula (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2.6H2O. Light blue-green crystal; can be used as a reducing agent like ferrous sulfate, and is much more stable than FeSO4.7H2O in the air. Ferrous ammonium sulfate is often used to calibrate potassium dichromate or potassium permanganate solutions in quantitative analysis. It is also used in chemical reagents, medicine, metallurgy and electroplating.

use

It is often used as a standard material for calibrating potassium dichromate, potassium permanganate and other solutions in quantitative analysis, and is used in chemical reagents, medicine, metallurgy and electroplating. It can be used as a water purifier; in the inorganic chemical industry, it has many direct applications, such as being used as a mordant in the printing and dyeing industry, tanning in the tanning industry, preservatives in the wood industry, and pharmaceuticals. It is used to treat iron deficiency anemia. It can also be mixed with tannic acid, gallic acid, etc. to prepare blue-black ink.

6FeSO4+7H2SO4+K2Cr2O7─→ Cr2(SO4)3+3Fe2(SO4)8+K2SO4+7H2O

preparation or source

It is prepared by mixing ferrous sulfate solution and concentrated ammonium sulfate solution, then concentrating and crystallizing it.

Others lose crystal water at about 100°C. Stable in air.
